The above pictures are from www.casamance.net
.. showing the A La Nature at its former best. |

In 1992 when A La Nature was newly built .. next to a row of pine trees, well away from the sea. |

Today, with coastal erosion, trees have disappeared and the sea almost touches A La Nature. |

In 1999 regular traditional dance and drumming evenings were held for guests' entertainment |

René, the owner with his dreadlocks in 1999 .. today there is almost more hair than René ! |

Arriving to a warm welcome and a cool beer I looked out of the beach entrance door ..
to the left, a few people were watching the fishing fleet depart .. as the evening sunshine faded. |

To the right were stretches of deserted beach, which I would explore the next day. |

Whilst eating breakfast next morning .. I noticed a few 'birds' swooping in and out of the roof space. On further investigation at the far end of the upper terrace, I found
that I was not alone ! A small colony of Bats had taken up residence and were hanging from the roof beams. An attraction for Chiroptera enthusiasts, although they look spooky in the camera's flashlight !! |
