The only original antique trade beads to be found in Cape Town were in a couple of very chic tourist shops by the harbour, 6 strands in total and they were definitely tourist-priced !
However, the open air markets were full of colourful display of beads all modern and imported  .. mainly from Ghana, Nigeria and the Far East.

Although they tried to convince us of its antiquity, this was new Silver work from Ethiopia.

Colourful local cloth and blankets were also on display

I was assured that the world famous Table Mountain was still there ... under this cloud !
