Stephanus Johannes Paulus Kruger ( 1825 – 1904) Uncle Paul ( 'Oom Paul' in Afrikaans ) was the 5th State President of the South African Republic ( Transvaal ) from 1883 to 1900.

We drove up to the Union Buildings .. the official seat of the South African government ..
Pretoria's National Monument.

Set high up on the Meintjieskop hill ...

... and surrounded by beautiful well-kept gardens.

As usual .. local art and crafts street-sellers were in close attendance.
