An iron-age, dry-stone defence fortress .. known as a Broch or Roundhouse .. thought to have been built between 500 BC and 500 AD and found all over Scotland, many nearer the coast, to provide
protection against raiding parties. The highest part of the remaining exterior wall is 6.7 metres tall

Its ancient stone walls show attractive patterning from the growth of Lichens and Mosses
