The rings were made and were very heavy .. how would they get them into the well ?
Here is how they did it ....

The ring is lowered gently down the well shaft

Closely followed by Abli .. directing the action

Deep below you can see the water but not Abli, who is down there attempting to smooth out a slight projection near the bottom of the well, which was stopping the ring bedding in properly.
Then we had a setback ... the ring broke !

Various excuses were offered as they hauled the broken pieces out of the well .. coincidentally saving a large black beetle who had hitched a ride to safety, luckily escaping a certain fate.
