Digging with an iron bar and shovel .. hauling a mixture of stone and sand to the surface using a bucket, rope and pulley .. continued steadily over the next few days at around 2
metres per day. Here Abli 'Zimba' is having a rest whilst Makka 'Well' is hauling up stone from Forfar .... |

......... who eventually emerged, smiling and covered in sweat and sand, after over an hour of heavy digging deep below the surface .. happily singing to himself whilst
puffing on a cigarette ! |

Various friends .. including Lamin the taxi driver happily leant a hand |

as the pile of sand and stone became steadily higher |

However at around 12 metres progress slowed a little as they had to dig through a solid layer of laterite stone .. breaking up and hauling lumps weighing in excess of 10 kg
to the surface |
