Views of the Bush and an early Trading Settlement near Basse Santa Su
 The Gambia - West Africa

Bare-branched Baobab trees silhouetted behind other unknown types, covered in white blossom.

This derelict building caught my eye.

I was told it was the remains of a European trading post from the early 1900's ......

... as was evidenced by the carved 1923 inscription on a marker stone found nearby.

Mohammed suddenly left the path and fought his way through the undergrowth to point out these grapefruit-sized fruits. A local edible fruit which is not found in the markets nearer the coast.

At 4 inches / 10 centimetres in diameter .. this one is not ripe .. and is as yet unidentified.
Can you help to identify it please ?
